Amara Savannah Cats

Amara Savannahs is located in the beautiful bluegrass area of Kentucky. My name is Sue Armstrong, I have been registered with TICA and working with Savannah Cats for almost 20 years. The Savannah Cat Breed has truley captivated my heart! I was involved in foundation breeding in both the Bengal Cat and Savannah Cat. I now solely develope the Savannah Cat Breed.

F1 Savannah Kitten

Savannah Cats are truly loving animals, and my goal is to produce Savannah Kittens as close to their wild ancestors in type and size, but with a wonderful domestic temperament. I only breed Savannah to Savannah.

Through years of dedication I have paired a few Savannah Cats to an African Serval Cat resulting in my F1 Savannah Cat bloodlines. All of my intact breeding cats both male and female have been health tested negative for FeLV/FIV, PK Def (N/N) and PRA (N/N).

All babies are guaranteed to be fully spoiled before they leave my house. This is my new website as of the year 2020. I am slowly updating to show all the fantastic kittens I have produced over the past 20 years.

Thank you, Sue Armstrong

Savannah Cats From The Past

The Savannah Cat Breeder’s Life

Savannah Cat Breeder (with a capital B) is one who thirsts for knowledge and never really knows it all, one who wrestles with decisions of conscience, convenience, and commitment. One that shares this knowledge and guides those interested.

Savannah Cat With Dogs
Past Savannah Kitten

A Breeder is one who sacrifices personal interests, finances, time, friendships, fancy furniture, and deep pile carpeting! She gives up the dreams of a long luxurious cruise in favor of turning that all-important litter into this year’s vacation.

The Breeder goes without sleep in hours spent planning a breeding or watching anxiously over the birth process, and afterward, over every little wiggle or cry. The Breeder skips dinner parties because that litter is due or the babies have to be fed at eight. She disregards birth fluids and puts mouth to mouth, to save a gasping newborn, literally blowing life into a tiny helpless creature that may be the culmination of a lifetime of dreams.

You will find the Breeder’s lap is a marvelous place where Savannah Kittens of proud and noble heritage often snooze. A Breeder’s hands are strong and firm and often soiled, but ever so gentle and sensitive to the thrusts of a kittens wet nose. The Savannah Cat Breeders back and knees are usually arthritic from bending and sitting with the mother due but are strong enough to guide that new little kitten to maturity.

Sometimes a Breeder’s shoulders are heaped with responsibility, but they’re wide enough to support the weight of a thousand defeats and frustrations. A Breeder’s arms are always able to wield a mop, support an armful of kittens, or lend a helping hand to a newcomer. The Breeder’s ears are wondrous things, sometimes red (from being talked about), or strangely shaped (from being pressed against a phone receiver). Often deaf to criticism, yet always fine-tuned to the cry of an anxious kitten.

Your Savannah Cat Breeder’s brain is foggy on faces, but can recall pedigrees faster than an IBM computer. The Breeder’s heart is often broken, but it beats strongly with hope everlasting……and it’s always in the right place!

Oh, yes, there are breeders, and then, there are Breeders!!!

Hi Sue, We had a great day today. Atticus is much more comfortable around Alan. You were right about his appetite. I’m feeding him 3 oz. 4x per day with a little snack before bed and he cleans the plate each time. I swear he’s grown an inch each direction since Friday. Right now he’s dead asleep next to me after a long bout of play. Sleeps curled under my chin. We went to bed at 10 pm last night and he was asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. He was up bouncing on me for a few minutes at 2:30 then went back to sleep until 5. I think that is an ungodly hour to get up, especially on Sunday, so I put him in the bathroom and he stayed quiet until I got up at 6. I posted a couple of pics in The Atticus Diaries.

Alan is totally smitten with him. Lays on the floor with a goofy grin on his face when they’re playing. He is a bit jealous of me getting to stay at home with Atticus all day. Good grief, I hope he doesn’t decide to retire. We’d have to take out loans to keep Atticus fed. LOL.

‘Nite, D.

There are no words that adequately describe how we feel about him — love, adoration, awe all seem so inadequate. It’s such a spiritual connection and it’s humbling sometimes, the level of trust and love that he shows us. You’re used to living with F1s so I know you understand what I’m trying to say. He’s fundamentally different than my other 3 yet the same. Can’t put it in words and it’s frustrating. We are so blessed to share our lives with him.

“Our Atticus is a beast of a cat. 23″ torso and 20″ at the shoulder, which would make him Guinness record holder for the tallest cat. Thought you might like to know that you bred a record breaker. Love from me and the wrecking ball.” He is now 25 pounds and a magnificent boy!

Hi Sue!

Well, Duma is as adorable, if not destructive, as ever!

Let’s see, we have lost numerous phone chargers to chewing, he unplugged the cable one night, he loves the strings on the blinds, he will steal a bag of bread if we leave it on the counter, he chews tissues and any sort of paper he can find, and he runs along the top of the duct work in the middle of the night which sounds like an intruder. And don’t turn your back unless you want a surprise visitor landing on your shoulder or back! We try to wear him out, but a short nap later, he’s got a second and third wind combined. He will get involved in anything you are trying to do. Our house, despite the destruction he causes, has never been cleaner. This is mostly out of fear of what he will do with any food or other items left out. :

But, we just can’t help but adore him. He’s the best cat ever!

He typically wakes us up just before the morning alarm goes off so he can burrow down with us under the covers. He accomplishes this by digging with his front feet until he finds an opening. He loves to talk and talk, and complain and complain if anyone will listen. He plays with the dog; she chases him around and around the house and he jumps on the couch and tries to attack her from the top. He is still a big snuggler and very loving. He doesn’t meet anyone he is afraid of; if company comes, he just marches right up to them and demands to be petted or held. People are his! And what a handsome boy! He’s already larger than our other cat; we can only guess how long he is going to get! OH, and he is eating us out of house and home! He especially loves the nights they get boiled chicken; talk about a loud ruckus!

I attached a few pictures; it’s hard to capture him so it’s always while he is sleeping LOL.

All in all, he is doing great!
Hope all is well!

Our baby is awesome! He’s now a whopping 14lb. Everyone loves him and he is very social. I just love him sooooo much. His little face is so precious. I am no longer a “dog person.” A big deal for me. He is very social, and spends time in everyone’s room. Still teething and gnawing through all our favorite stuff, but that’ll teach us to put our things away. The dogs are at least good for prey, and Duma loves attacking them. He is actually starting to settle down a bit. But, he still thinks the blanket is his momma. He’s ready for suckling every morning. 🙂 Mignon ( AKA Duma 7 month old F1 53% male )

Hi Sue!

I just have to begin by saying how much we love this kitten! He is beyond awesome. We can tell that you raised him with love and kindness; he is so trusting in everything we do with him! He has adjusted wonderfully; he talks a lot and wants to be with us constantly. He has so many neat little quirks! What a wonderful little guy he is.

I am attaching some photos for you to see. He is growing quickly!

Thanks so much for letting us have him; we simply adore him!!!
